The TÁMOP (Vascular and Cardiac Research Network) project, which was led by György Balla and completed in 2015, played an important role in promoting our research work, and provided the appropriate background for the members of my work team. Broadening horizons, team building and experience exchange was the primary goal of the FP7 HealthTies project, which was financially supported by the European Union and completed in 2014 and was a cooperation between Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK, Spain and Hungary.

Based on several new ideas, there are many collaborative projects between clinics and institutes (e.g. oncology, gynecology, urology, cardiovascular, etc.). In addition, ad hoc collaborations and experience exchanges can be conducted through personal research partners (Charles University-Prague, Basel University Institute of Pathology, Graz, Mayo Clinic-Jacksonville).

It is expedient to expand the framework of diagnostic and scientific cooperation with similar laboratories of the University (cell biology, immunology, oncology research). One of the biggest challenges is to explore and exploit new opportunities offered by molecular technologies. Significant advances have been made in recent years in pathology, particularly in cancer research (gene mutation panels, next generation sequencing, liquid biopsy technique). It is a common phenomenon that there is an immediate need for new techniques in clinical research, eg. efficient molecular assays can also be conceived as important applied research projects.
